Description
The booklet gives an overview of Estonian-Norwegian relations, Norway in the Second World War and the dramatic battle of Narvik where the Allies first beat the Germans. The focus is on the 12 Estonian volunteers who came to help the Norwegians fighting against the invading Nazi Germany in the spring of 1940. Arnold Soinla, an Estonian who fought in the Alta Battalion, is known to be the first Estonian who was killed in the war, and he is buried at Lenvik Cemetery in Evenes.
