Toil and Despair. Polish Prisoners of War and Civil Forced Labourers in Northern Norway 1942–1945

The temporary exhibition “Toil and Despair. Polish Prisoners of War and Civil Forced Labourers in Northern Norway 1942–1945” is shown at Narvik War Museum in the period September 28th – November 21st 2021.

The exhibition is about living and working conditions and the destinies of the Polish prisoners of war and civil forced labourers, that were sent to Northern Norway in 1942-1945, to work on building fortifications, railway and roads.

The texts in the exhibition are in Norwegian and English.

This is a common project by Narvik War and Peace Centre and the Gdynia Naval Museum. The project is supported by EVZ Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” and the Fritt Ord Foundation.
